Overview of Dream House



As you can see, progress is being made on our dream house.  You can get a better idea of the house footprint. 

Garage

The outline area on the left in the picture is the garage. The garage will have a small workshop in it also. Initially, we were planning a 3 car garage. Because of the shape of the lot, we opted for a 2 car garage that is much "longer."  This will give us room for the small workshop and parking of the golf cart. I told Ron that he has to use the workshop. 😍Everyone knows I always have lots of projects for him. 


Garden Room
The area at the back where a roll-up door will go is where we will put the dump cart and my gardening equipment. I have been joking about how Ron will probably lock me in that area. He might want to do that to keep me from spending money. 

The area will have a dirt floor; therefore, it is not considered a finished room. Otherwise, it would be a basement. 

House overview
With this overview, you can see the layout of the first floor. The "canal" area on the right will be the wrap around porch. You can see in the right rear will be an octangle-shaped area. That will be dining area. Lots of windows and French doors. 
The first floor will be an open plan concept. You enter the living room, then the kitchen area and the dining area is the back of this. Behind the dining area is the master suite with french doors leading out to the porch and outdoor kitchen. 

Exciting that progress is being made. When I visit the site or look at the pictures, I marvel at the fact this is actually going to be our house. I hope many of you will visit us often.

Today I decided to look at the living area. There are so many questions to ask. Sometimes I feel like I am obsessed and driving my friends crazy with questions and stories and we haven't even begun construction.  If you look at the above layout, you will see the layout of the living area which flows into the kitchen area. Overview of Dream Home Blog

My husband and I are building our dream home in Oxford, Mississippi. A former client and forever friend, Meg Habasevich, will be advising us along the way. Periodically, I will have guest posts by various experts.  When my husband said we could build a home, I began to dream of what it could be. I thought about my Daddy's old house and how I would love to have some of the items from it - especially the mantel, farmer's sink, and claw-foot tub. A close friend, Becky contacted the current owner and she agreed to let me get those items. I was able to get a couple of light fixtures, the mantel, and the farmer's sink. The bathtub was gone.  These old furnishings have very strong sentimental value to me. That mantel is where all important papers were put. It was a big part of our family life. Building Dream Home Day 1

Day 250 Today I begin organizing my Pinterest boards. I pinned my ideas for each room on Pinterest to get input from the experts. After I finish organizing the boards, I will discuss each one and my ideas. When construction begins, I will discuss the process from that perspective.  The main focus today was on the downstairs rooms. This included the following:  Master Suite Kitchen Living Area Powder Room Laundry Room Each of these boards were updated with all my ideas except paint colors and floor colors. A few of the boards such as the Master Suite has separate sections. Be sure to look at each section and my comments.  Working on these boards today pointed out how much has been done.
